That "nobody" you ignore on the street might be your only hope.
Put another way: Can an introverted teen armed mostly with deli food protect humanity from an invasion of werewolf-mummies wrapped in toilet paper?
In this entertaining, emotionally honest follow-up to the sci-fi novel Welfy Q. Deederhoth: Meat Purveyor, World Savior, our resourceful teenaged hero has returned to New York, having saved the Brundeedle race from extinction. He's struggling on two fronts, trying to connect with the mother he lost in infancy and grappling with his history on Earth as a worthless foster kid, when he befriends a group of misfits his own age-other former foster girls and boys who became heroes off-planet, rescuing alien civilizations from evil.
But for Welfy and his new pals, there's little time for fun and idle chitchat, because... danger, anyone? Werewolf-like zombie creatures start crashing through the wrong spacetime portals-in New York City and a bunch of other worlds. Who or what are they? Why are they suddenly rampaging through the streets, attacking an untold number of planets at once? And why are they wrapped in what appears to be toilet tissue?
Welfy again has to make the most of his signature weapon-a deli apron whose pocket produces an endless supply of high-tech weaponry and foodstuff. He still never knows what he's going to get when he reaches into the pocket mid-battle-a bona fide weapon or something delicious like a buttery sandwich roll. No wonder he and his ragtag gang of do-gooders are in for some hairy days, navigating between Earth, where they're nobodies, and alien realms where it's up to them to defend the multiverse from oblivion.
Of course they have their doubts.
"How many times has anyone been a prophesied hero twice?" wonders Si Spielgut, Welfy's ghostly spiritual guide. "In the history of world saviors, it has happened no times!"
So...uh oh.
With short chapters and fun spot illustrations, Welfy Q is perfect for boys and girls middle-grade and up, reluctant readers, and adults who love humorous sci-fi adventures.
