Vindictus - Paperback

by David H. Falloure (Author)

History says Hannibal Barca died nearly two thousand years ago. History is wrong.

For centuries, the legendary Carthaginian general has lived in the shadows, watching empires rise and fall while carrying the memory of a war Rome believed it had finished. But Hannibal is not all that survived the ancient world. Powerful families have endured as well, bound by old alliances, inherited oaths, and grievances that have never truly died.

Now those ancient rivalries converge in the present.

When forces connected to a secretive council known as Conclave begin moving against him, Hannibal is drawn into a struggle whose origins reach back two thousand years. Around him, seemingly ordinary lives become entangled with the conflict. Some are descendants of the men and women who shaped the ancient world. Others may be connected to the past in ways even Hannibal does not fully understand. And someone has been waiting a very long time for revenge.

Moving between the ancient Mediterranean and contemporary Houston, Vindictus blends historical fiction, conspiracy, action, and suspense into a story about the long memory of vengeance-and what happens when the unfinished business of history finally comes due.

The past never dies. It hunts.
