Tribal members have been an integral component of the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon since the shows began. The members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation - the Umatilla, Cayuse and Walla Walla Tribes, host the grand village of over 300 teepees that comes to life once a year.
Since the 1910 Round-Up, the annual teepee village has brought families together, and celebrated long-standing tradition and Tribal culture. Indians from other Northwest tribes travel to Pendleton, Oregon, to join the grand village and take part in Pendleton Round-Up week.
Village of Past and Present is a tribute to the Tribal participation in the Round-Up and Happy Canyon festivities and includes vivid photography displaying the rich history of the encampment as well as the current day village.
