by Mario Maccani (Author)
Turquoise is a poignant and deeply moving story, much of it true. Daniel Smith finds himself trapped in an extremely dysfunctional life as a child and feels he has no way of breaking this cycle: what his broken father is today, he will be tomorrow. Daniel discovers for himself how one bad decision can lead to another and soon finds himself on the brink of becoming a broken man himself. However, he fights back and in so-doing begins a life true to his own destiny. Turquoise is a work with no holds barred in which Maccani writes with an astonishingly delicate skill.
Author Biography
Mario Maccani grew up in the wine-making part of South Africa: Worcester, in the Western Cape, about an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town. His grandfather, Etore Maccani, had immigrated to South Africa from Italy. He settled down working as a wine taster. Unlike his father: Aldo, Mario had no interest in history at school. Instead, he excelled in drawing, a gift he inherited from his grandmother, Constance Maccani. After high school Maccani moved to Cape Town where he studied Fine Art, and then English Literature, going on to receive a PhD in Creative Writing. He has exhibited his art in South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan. Other than art and literature, he is interested in music, and has released two albums under the name Tom: Going Like A Boeing and Sub-Sonic/Super-Sonic.
