by Muhammed Abdullah Al-Ahari (Author), Kamil Yusuf Avdich (Author)
This brief work is the thesis of Imam Kamil Yusuf Avdich (1914-1979) written for the School of Higher Shariah in Sarajevo in 1937. Avdich was a pioneer in the history of Islam in America -- he started some of the earliest Islamic periodicals in the United States, wrote "An Outline of Islam" the first textbook for Islamic Sunday Schools, and led the Bosnian Muslim community in Chicago.
Author Biography
Avdich was one of the founders of the Northbrook Illinois based Islamic Cultural Center. He worked with Dr. T.B. Irving and other early pioneers in helping to develop a path for Muslims in America to contribute fully to the American society as both Americans and Muslims. This work is timely as America is seen today as being a colonizer like from France and England were in the early nineteenth century.
