The Secret of Freedom is the inspirational personal account of a WWII US Prisoner of War, held captive in the Philippines & Japan, and his family's unfinished business to publish his manuscript, POW 529. George F. Mero found himself on his first tour of duty in the Philippines when WWII was declared. Three and a half years later, he and his comrades were freed. Although he never spoke about the war, his family found his manuscripts, after his death. Thus began a family's twenty-year journey to complete their unfinished business. The book includes the original POW 529 manuscript, a prologue, historical research with internet links, veteran-related information including medals, memorials and photographs of artifacts, an epilogue featuring a Photographic Essay of his life with period photographs, stories by his son and two daughters, a collection of practical teachings based on lessons learned from George F. as well as a composite of reflections by thirty individuals, ages 14 to 84 on freedom and the secrets to finding it. Available in B&W and Color.
