by Jay J. Anderson (Author), Leonard Sweet (Foreword by)
O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way. (JESUS) This book, crayons and cartoons notwithstanding, really isn't a children's book. Yet, at its heart, that's exactly what it is. It's kind of hard to explain, which is probably why the author uses so many colors and pictures, though that's not the only reason. As a starting point, let's agree it's a book (alphabet!) for kids of all ages, especially those who have experienced a few more birthday parties and Christmas mornings. And for Anderson's first word, play, it is also a book filled with truth that is for all times, all places, and all people . . . all ages. After all, the eternal words of Jesus will be front and center from start to finish. The call of Jesus to his kingdom requires we become and live childlike. So what does that sound like, look like, and live like? Oh . . . and play like? You are invited, by the King, to enter The Childlike Kingdom!
Author Biography
Dr. Anderson brings decades of theological study and pastoral experience to The Childlike Kingdom. With advanced degrees in theology and biblical studies, he has spent his ministry helping people of all ages discover the profound simplicity of faith that Jesus introduced and modeled. His passion for childlike faith stems from his own journey of rediscovering wonder in the midst of ordinary life. "The Kingdom of Heaven truly belongs to those who approach God with the trust, wonder, and openness of a child," Jay often says. "This book is my invitation for you to enter that kingdom."
Dr. Anderson is a Jesus follower, husband of 35 years, father of two and grandfather of three. He has been a pastor, adjunct professor, school superintendent, chaplain, and tour guide. This is his first published work and part of a planned five book Childlike Kingdom series. Along with writing Jay loves to read, day hike, kayak, golf, travel, and drink coffee with friends in cool Pacific Northwest shops. He currently resides in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
