The Automat is a story of a mild-mannered introvert named Horace Gray, who slowly descends into madness after he becomes obsessively enamored with a woman who stares at him from behind an automat wall. The Automat is a fictional story exploring the dark side of human nature and the innate desire of being loved. It is a story of unexpected change in the routine of one's simple life, of obsession, guilt, and the consequences of betrayal. The Automat will appeal to readers of literary fiction with dark undertones.
Author Biography
Cristina Martin is a Cuban-American author born in Miami, Florida. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. She moved to New York City in 2001, shortly after 9/11 where she began her career in investigations for the City of New York and New York University. She began to write The Automat while in New York, and her love for the city is evident in her artistic representations of Horace Gray's urban environment. Cristina moved to Los Angeles in 2006, but still desperately misses New York. She received her Master's Degree in Human Behavior, and is currently in a doctoral program for her PhD in Organizational Leadership. She is currently working on a steampunk, science-fiction novel entitled: A Face for Reuben Hill. She is also working on a comedic autobiographical account of her dating experiences in New York City titled, Life with Alvy: Memoirs of a Real-Life Annie Hall.
