Author Biography
Siham Khalili is an accredited member of the Dietitians of Canada society and a health practitioner in primary diabetes healthcare. She holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Human Nutrition from McGill University, a B.Sc. degree in nutritional biochemistry from the University of Ottawa. She also had extensive practicum training in group psychotherapy and stress management at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for patients with eating disorders and obesity. Her professional experience of over 30 years includes academic teaching and research in nutrition for pregnancy and chronic diseases. She has also been providing patient education and counseling on nutritional and lifestyle management for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and gastrointestinal disorders at various hospitals and clinics. She is currently setting up a group therapy clinic in Ottawa, Canada for preventing and reversing chronic disorders through a wide range of lifestyle measures. The author has spent the last few years preparing this book in response to an overwhelming demand from patients, students and colleagues to put together in one volume all the material taught and presented in her courses and seminars. The book is a blend of a comprehensive literature search of a diversity of disciplines and her professional experience, under a single theme of balancing and harmonizing the mind and body to attain sustainable health and fitness.
