Author Biography
Beginning practice in 1971 with Kobun Chino Otogawa Roshi, she received Dharma Transmission from Niho Tetsumei Roshi in 1997 at Entsuji Temple, in lineage with the hermit priest Ryokan after training at Shoboji Temple in Japan. She has since founded Olympia Zen Center in Washington, and served as president of the national Soto Zen Buddhist Association. In 2006, her teacher Niho Tetsumei Roshi named her Abbess of Fukujuji Temple in Nakasho, Japan. She promotes the teaching and poetry of Ryokan, has lectured in the US and abroad, writes articles for various magazines and is a published poet and painter.
