Puebla de Zaragoza, also known as Puebla de los Ángeles in colonial times, and simply as Puebla, today was founded in 1531. The earliest list of settler's dates to 1534. This church is the oldest church in the city with baptismal records starting in 1544. These baptismal records give us the earliest snapshot of couples and their children. An additional bonus is the priests recording, in many cases, the relationship of the godparents. These records are a launching point for many of their descendants that settled in the American Southwest.
