Catherine became aware from volunteering at rescues and shelters around the country that senior, black furred and special need pets are often overlooked for adoption. Many of these pets are brought in as strays. Severe kennel stress can prevent a pet from being adopted indefinitely. Catherine wanted to share what she learned from the shelter staff on how to keep pets safe and from becoming a stray like the senior dog in her story. Her mission was trying to reduce the number of the strays that enter shelters every day just by the unique feature in her book.
