"Eternity is an unimaginably long time. Whether you spend it in hell or in heaven is undoubtedly the most important personal outcome of your life." - from On Going to Hell
This is a book about going to hell. It can help a reader in three ways.
First, it helps us explore whether we can be true followers of Jesus and at the same time support President Trump. We learn the answer first by turning to the Bible where we consider every passage in the Gospels where Jesus teaches us about God's judgment and hell. There we find the incredibly loving life which Jesus calls us to live. We see the consequences for what we do - and for what we fail to do. Then we compare what we have learned from Jesus with the record of President Trump's actions. Reflection questions at the end of each chapter help both individual readers and study groups.
Second, it helps us compare the two life paths that Jesus shows us. One is the "broad, easy, road" that leads to hell. The other is the "narrow, difficult path" that leads to eternal life. Two chapters near the end directly compare what Jesus teaches us about the kinds of life goals, everyday feelings, and source of power that characterize each of these two possibilities.
Third, On Going to Hell can provide a way to communicate with family members and friends where there is a lot of tension over Donald Trump. You may not be able to talk about our national life because things could get ugly fast. However, you can send them the book and just say, "Here's something I came across that I'd love you to consider." After they read a bit, it may open talk based on what the Bible says instead of conflicting personal opinions. You can explore the book together, rather than argue with each other.
