by Sharon K. Roberts (Author)
This is the uplifting story of a girl's struggle to find herself after tragedy nearly destroys her life. Fourteen-year-old Cat has devoted her life to figure skating and worked tirelessly for Olympic Gold. While driving home from a skating competition, she and her Dad are involved in an accident. Cat awakens in the hospital and learns the worst has happened: Her Father is dead and her left leg was amputated below the knee. Caitlin sinks into a depression. A family doctor suggests hippotherapy. Caitlin consents to therapeutic riding. Inspired by the sight of a horse and rider practicing on a stadium jump course, Caitlin decides she will learn to compete again. Olympic Gold once again seems possible. When the owner of the stable allows her to work with Toby, an overo pinto with a bad attitude and a natural jumping ability. Caitlin learns there is more to a horse then just competition.
Author Biography
Sharon has loved and enjoyed the companionship of ponies and horses all her life. When she couldn't actually be with horses she devoured books about horses. As a mother she raised her children with ponies in the sandbox and family trail rides. She was a 4-H leader and when her children left the nest she became the Arkansas Director for Personal Ponies LTD.(www.personalponies.org.) It was inevitable that one day her favorite animal would find its way to the pages of a book, a book about a pony named Honey inspired by the ponies of PPL. While writing Pony's story, Toby would intrude in her thoughts wanting his story told as well.
