Author Biography

I am the expert on myself and I have learnt that by looking after myself first, this helps me to serve others better. I also know that my purpose is to help people to think and question enabling me to benefit people by sharing my extensive knowledge and expertise. It is also about helping people to keep themselves accountable and take consistent responsibility for their development. I have had a long career in nursing, within clinical practice (from staff nurse to nurse consultant) and academic setting plus time as Emergency Nurse journal editor, which has provided me with the expertise and experience to assist others. As an active Christian, I understand that the spiritual dimension for patients, relatives and staff can be very strong and needs always to be considered and addressed in practice. As a Council Member for the company Shared Interest, I have learnt about fair trade and finance on a global scale. This gives me an added dimension of knowledge. All the above has made me the credible and motivational Claire Picton, Registered Nurse, who has had opportunity to learn and develop throughout her Life and enjoys helping and passing on her knowledge to others.
