Author Biography
Marvin A. Beleck was born in Greenville, Texas in 1945 and raised in Tyler, Texas, where he attended public schools. After graduation, he enlisted and served in the US Navy as a dental technician. He then returned to Texas, enrolled in college, and graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration - Management degree (1971). In 1973, Marvin opened a retail mattress store, Factory Mattress Outlet, which successfully operated for 43 years in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. 1973 was an exciting year for Marvin, as he not only started his career as a business owner, he also married Ava Fleischmann, and the two of them have three children, all whom graduated from the University of Texas, and two young grandchildren, who are their pride and joy. Marvin continuously supports his community, serving on multiple Boards and is a past President of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, their Men's Club, the Isadore Garsek B'nai B'rith Chapter of Tarrant County, and also the Jewish Education Agency. He has received multiple awards for recognition of his service; namely B'nai B'rith Jewish Person of the Year (2014), and the Congregation Ahavath Sholom President's Award (2015). Marvin remains young at heart whilst he continues to enjoy his childhood passions of producing Jewish themed mosaics and collecting stamps from the United States, United Nations, Israel, Russia, and multiple worldwide countries.
