Author Biography
Yvonne Spear Perret has chronicled the rich and distinctive culture of New Orleans for more than forty years. Through features published in The Times-Picayune, New Orleans Magazine, Gambit, USA Today, and The Christian Science Monitor, she has shared the city's stories with both local and national audiences. Perret graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University. A longtime high school teacher and principal, she has devoted much of her life to educating the city's children. She has raised three children of her own and
lives in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, where she was born and raised.
Gianna Gilberti is a painter, ceramicist, and illustrator born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her work has been exhibited and awarded in the New Orleans Museum of Art, M.S. Rau Antiques gallery, Maison de Saints Superbowl Auction, and Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. She is a 2026 graduate of both the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts
(NOCCA) and Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies, aspiring to pursue medicine in her collegiate studies.
