Author Biography
Penny Ross is a Metis author and Aboriginal Educator. Penny believes in a world where dreams, legends and magic abound through storytelling. Mrs. Muggles Learns to Read is her first children's book. Penny is the author of Cave of Journeys, a novel aimed at youth ten years and older and Bird of Paradise Drums Beating, a contemporary young adult novel. Cathy Wickett has illustrated each of these books with Penny. Originally from Saskatchewan, Penny lives in Gimli, Manitoba with her husband and has two adult sons, Ryan and Dylan. She is currently working on a sequel to Cave of Journeys, a novelette, and a legend for young children with her illustrator Cathy. Cathy Wickett's colourful, animated illustrations bring Mrs. Muggles and her adventures as she learns to read, to life. Motivated by a love of art and inspired by the environment around her, Cathy's style captures and holds the attention of children and youth. Originally from Manitoba, Cathy lives in Vancouver, British Columbia and has two adult children, Matthew and Meredith. She is currently working on a number of projects with Penny.
