by Perry J. Hubbard (Author)
More and more, the world is becoming multi-ethnic and multi-religious. Wherever you live, you are coming in contact with people of other ethnic and religious backgrounds. We need to understand how to communicate with them. John wrote his gospel when he was living in Ephesus, a city with a multi-ethic and multi-religious society. People from all over the empire came to Ephesus because it was the political, social and economic center for this region. As a result, the religious beliefs and philosophies of many regions were brought to Ephesus. The chosen format for this material is to study a passage from the book of John and ask the question, "why did John include this story, information or dialogue?" By asking this question we are able to think about who John was talking to, the kind of issues he dealt with in that setting and what John had to say about Jesus Christ and his belief in Jesus.
