by Danny Kerridge (Author)
This book is the first in a series aimed at assisting and making suggestions in the Plastics Injection Moulding arena. It gets down to the Meat and Potatoes of this arena or basic level, the core understanding if you will. I believe to firmly get a hold on teachings being made in this arena we must fully understand the reasoning behind these teachings. I don't think it's acceptable to just step you through a process without a full in-depth explanation on Why that particular step is taken. This first volume takes into consideration some basic elements for the diesetter and technician, this is to give an understanding on what is to come in further volumes directed towards Diesetting, troubleshooting and die-trialling.
Author Biography
I entered into the Plastics arena in august of 1987 and recently retired, (december 2013). I have held all positions from Operator of the machines up to Material Handling and teaching new handlers, up to Die setting, teaching new die setters, technician and die trialling positions. I also held a position as a Supervisor for a number of years, but found my skills being needed to oversee 'must have' tools going in which was taking me away from the everyday shop floor duties. Throughout this time I found my comfort zone as a trainer or teacher of practices I found assisting in the roles of diesetting and troubleshooting. I even preferred to Die Set because I found that I could combat issues found with the tool and machine from the battle front so to speak, and put things in place to (which would end up) combatting issues for everyone else.
