by Lane Pederson (Author)
Trauma treatment doesn't have to start with reliving the past--it can begin by creating stability in the present.
Trauma affects our whole being--disrupting our emotions, thoughts, nervous system, memory, behavior, relationships, and even identity. When dysregulation shows up everywhere, where do you start?
With Integrative DBT for Complex Trauma Recovery, clinicians have a clear, structured, actionable road map for recovery. Developed and field-tested by world-renowned DBT expert Dr. Lane Pederson, and grounded in his Dialectical Trauma Recovery Model (DTRM), this approach addresses trauma's impact across mind, body, behavior, and relationships--without asking clients to relive painful memories.
Guided by an integrated theory of trauma and grounded in the familiar DBT modules--dialectics, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness--the skills-based strategies inside will allow you to:
- Stabilize symptoms before, or as an alternative to, trauma processing
- Identify how dysregulation manifests, whether emotionally, cognitively, behaviorally, or somatically
- Target confusing symptoms and triggers as they arise
- Transform fragmentation and dysregulation into balance, integration, and coherence
It is possible to build a life worth living after trauma, one DBT skill at a time.
