by Deirdre K. Fuller (Author)
One of the goals of the In Art series is to invite the audience to look beyond the obvious, to look into the background or to notice the smallest details. Another goal is to give the reader an opportunity to look at artwork from a different perspective. This book is a little different from the rest of the series. Still life paintings are a type of artwork, not a subject of the art. This book was designed to give the student an opportunity to look at the many different types of still life paintings. As with the other books in the series, this is a picture book for students of all ages...A picture book of still life artwork. Look through these paintings that span many centuries from many countries, and notice the similarities and the differences between them...See the colors, the textures and patterns, and more. But most of all, enjoy
Author Biography
Deirdre's appreciation for "Great Art" started when she was a little girl. Her father made sure that his family was exposed to museums of many kinds. As a talented photographer himself, he saw the benefit to seeing things from a different perspective and this led his daughter to appreciate many different kinds of art. Deirdre's favorite artist was Ansel Adams with his black and white photographs of landscapes. Only in the last few years has she come to recognize and enjoy the works of many other artists, and in the process has fallen in love with many different kinds of art, especially paintings, both well-known and not so well-known.
