Author Biography
Bret Ehlers began his real estate career as an apprentice in his father's Architectural and Construction Company in 1963. Bret began managing his father's rental properties in 1969. Bret gained a great passion for creating and managing projects while at the same time creating disdain for sitting at a desk with a #2 pencil. Bret loved being in the field for his father. Bret was already living his dream when he graduated High School. Bret received his first successful bid contract from Natronia County School District in Casper, WY at the age of 17. At this point the best friend of Bret's father, Bill Card, pulled Bret aside and informed him it was time to cut the umbilical cord and become his own man away from his father's business. Bret purchased his first investment property in 1980. He decided a spec house in Taylorsville, UT would be the best place to start. Bret got his real estate license in 1982 and used his license for many years to help him with his investment business Bret's life changed forever on his 40th birthday in 1997. He fell down a stairwell on one of his construction sites 5 days before Christmas and suffered a major brain injury that would debilitate him for the next 2 years. His wife Heidi finished the projects in the system and closed the business while Bret attended therapy each day. In 1999 Bret with his injury improving went back into the work world with Franklin-Covey working with Carleton Sheets. During this time Bret begun to grow his real estate investment business and put together a 2M multi-building seller finance transaction. This experience got Bret a job offer from AD Kessler to begin coaching his students. At this time Bret was coaching and running a highly profitable real estate investment business. Bret was contacted by many industry giants to coach their students and had 125 students at any one time. His ability to coach with a big heart and overcome adversity from life's tragedy resonated with his students and those experts who wanted Bret on his team. Bret's greatest achievement in life is his marriage of 33 years to Heidi. Heidi is his best friend and business partner. They work together in business every day. It is rare to see Bret without Heidi at his side. He dearly loves his two daughters Ember and Aspen. Bret thanks his greatest mentors in life; His father, Bill Card, and Steve Welch without them he wouldn't have the business mind and compassion for people that envelopes him today.
