A fully illustrated history of a pioneering 7 1/4 " gauge garden railway in the grounds of Kenton Grange, Kenton, Harrow, Middlesex. The railway exisisted from 1931 to 1950 and three of the seven steam locomotives were unique USA designs. All seven are followed right up to 2015. Randolph Jeffress, the owner of the Kenton Miniature Railway, and his friend Henry Greenly collaborated of creating this remarkable railway. A chapter about the interesting Jeffress family is also included. Over 60 historical photographs cover the history. They are not all up to modern digital quality but are included for their interest value. There are a few taken from 1930s glass colour slides. A good source for anyone interested in the story of model engineering's development of the7 1/4" gauge steam locomotive.
Author Biography
Eric L Basire. retired Government Employee, took up Model Engineering in 1990 when joining the Harrow & Wembley Society of Model Engineers. When researching the history of the Society he discovered a direct link to the Kenton Miniature Railway. Coincidentally, he had visited the KMR in his teens. Side-tracked into investigating the KMR and the seven steam locomotives which led to writing the history.
