Author Biography
J. B. Lightfoot (1828-89) was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and during the last ten years of his life he was Bishop of Durham. He served as Canon in St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and was Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at Cambridge University. Lightfoot is best known for his remarkable scholarship in readable style, evidenced in his commentaries on Galatians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon.
