I've been holding some of the worst things that have happened-clutching them like a dark treasure not to be lost. Afraid to forget the details, the pieces that might heal a shattered story, I became the guardian of this pain.

But what happens when no one is looking for the treasure I hold? My existence slips into waiting-holding suffering so tightly it prevents a life from being fully lived, as if loosening my grip would erase any chance of redemption.

My past and present have been shaped by its sorrow and limits. I am able to see that now. I write it down and bury it beneath my favorite tree, and in its absence, a new self emerges.

I share my story while working through the mind that holds the thoughts that keep me stuck, the body that holds trauma and habits to numb the memories, and the spirit that names purpose and meaning to set me free.
