by Bryan Foreman (Author)
Enter the strange and exciting world of promiscuous gay men, drag queens, tweakers, ravers, and all-night party animals as seen through the eyes of a shy, lonely, heterosexual man looking for love in all the wrong places. Once a recluse, 30-year-old Benjamin Oldman spends his nights and weekends carousing with fellow construction workers, looking for the perfect bar, which ultimately leads him to Club Heaven-the most popular gay nightclub in Oklahoma City. Though he prefers women, Benjamin instantly takes a shine to the place with its dark, brooding atmosphere and heart-pounding music. Plus, he meets plenty of eccentrics and misfits such as himself, including three women who turn his world upside down. Porsche, a transgender who lives as a black woman, takes Benjamin under her wing and becomes his strongest ally and mentor. Then there's Laura, a self-proclaimed "crazy bitch", who brings out Benjamin's wild side...and Barbie, a free-spirited woman in her twenties who Benjamin falls in love with despite an age gap and her ever-increasing dependence on heroin. Benjamin never thought he'd have to compete against an illegal substance-or that his "coming out" might lead to his undoing.
Author Biography
ABOUT THE AUTHOR The gay scene of the 1990s-or the Gay Nineties, as author Bryan Foreman fondly refers to it-is a world and time period that he's well-acquainted with. He went from a clueless twenty-something to a clueless thirty-something in the early nineties and most of his friends were gay, even though he's hopelessly heterosexual. He lost a lot of those friends to the AIDS epidemic, sadly enough. They were an amazing group of people and he feels incredibly honored to tell their story. A native of Oklahoma City, Foreman graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in professional writing. With a strong passion for storytelling and inspired by such literary giants as Mark Twain and Emily Brontë, he is currently at work on his fourth novel, another semi-autobiography spanning from his childhood to his late twenties and also focusing on LGBTQ issues, family relationships, love, and friendship.
