For someone who had all but given up on myself, I found my way out of a lifetime of eating disorders including childhood obesity, anorexia, bulimia, morbid obesity, and bariatric surgery. I lost 150 pounds, but it almost didn't happen. I'm not sure why I decided to get my butt up of the couch that day, but I did. That seemingly small decision proved to be a game changer, transforming my life from one of food frenzy to fitness.
Author Biography
ROBANNE ROBIN (in order of experience) is a wife, mother of 3, Registered Nurse, Hip Hop instructor, and author. She has battled eating disorders all of her life including childhood obesity, anorexia, bulimia, and morbid obesity as an adult. At age 37 Robanne was facing major health issues including high blood pressure and diabetes. After two trips to the ER with a pulse over 200 she knew she had to make some serious lifestyle changes, or risk continued health problems. On August 4, 2009, Robanne had lap-roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery and has since lost half of her body weight. She has gone from weighing 300 pounds to 150. After almost giving up on herself, Robanne sought medical help that has saved her life. Through seeking help and putting in the hard work to make major lifestyle changes, she has turned a lifelong struggle with weight and eating disorders into a platform to motivate and inspire others. She now lives an active lifestyle and has launched books and inspirational projects. Robanne works with bariatric patients to motivate them to be successful. Additionally, her passion is to encourage kids to re-think being skinny, and shift their focus to being STRONG and fit. She works to inspire and motivate anyone who struggles with eating disorders and weight issues. Robanne shows her audiences that STRONG is the new SKINNY and above all shares the message that anyone can make changes. Robanne earned a B.A. in Communications from California State University Fullerton, and a B.S. in Nursing from Indiana University Purdue University School of Nursing. The best "degree" Robanne earns on a daily basis is her fitness by Getting her STRONG on five times a week at the YMCA in Fishers, Indiana. And...she finally got her first Hip Hop instructor gig at the Fishers Y. Additionally, she now teaches PIYO, Piloxing, Zumba and kids cardio hip hop. What's next? When you are behind, NEVER give up... and when you are ahead NEVER let up. NEVER give up on YOU. NEVER. She almost did, and look what's happening to her.
