Raised on a kibbutz in Israel, Maya Kidron suffers from the constraints of its rigid ideology. At the age of twenty-one she leaves for the United States to start a new life away from the kibbutz. When an invitation to her mother's birthday arrives in the mail, she finds herself returning home reluctantly. Back at the kibbutz, she reunites with her family and discovers that she was not the only one who had suffered.
Author Biography
Galia Baron was born and raised on a kibbutz. Her parents were among the founders of the kibbutz. After completing her two-year mandatory military service, she left the kibbutz to attend Tel Aviv University. A few years later, she moved to San Francisco for graduate school. She lives on the Central Coast of California.
