by Terry L. Futrell (Author)
Coal Dust provides an intimate look at the community and the people who influenced the author's young life growing up in post-World War II Coalfield, Tennessee. Times were changing in Coalfield as old traditions passed away and the former coal mining community in rural Southern Appalachia charged ahead into the technology-driven latter half of the twentieth century. Readers will recall their own personal experiences and relationships that relate to those portrayed by the author. While the book is largely autobiographical, it is permeated throughout with discussions of community and events that are relevant to anyone who lived in a small town or rural community in mid-twentieth century America.
