Throughout our work, we have demonstrated that the situation of environmentally displaced people is a major challenge for international law. Current international instruments are weak in preventing environmental degradation as a source of displacement, and human rights protection mechanisms do not adequately guarantee the rights of climate-induced people, either through the concept of refugee or in general rights instruments.
