by Donald Ross Algeo (Author)
Why does Jesus place forgiveness as the foundation both of the obedient Christian spirit and of God's plan for the reconciliation of humanity? In this groundbreaking study, Donald Algeo reveals the answer to both of these questions.
Beginning with an analysis of forgiveness in general, Algeo shows how Christian forgiveness in particular--forgiveness offered by Christians--represents an authority, a privilege, and a responsibility uniquely conferred upon his followers by Christ himself, and how its exercise by those followers is the singular method ordained by God for creating a heavenly kingdom on earth.
Written in an engaging style accessible to any and all who are interested in the deep things of God, Christian Forgiveness offers a refreshing and thought-provoking new understanding of one of the central pillars of Christian faith.
Author Biography
Born and raised in North Dakota, Donald Ross Algeo studied philosophy at Reed College, Freiburg University, and the University of Pittsburgh. After receiving his doctorate, he taught philosophy at Kenyon College, the University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie-Mellon University. He then moved on from academia to a career as a used and rare book seller, owning stores in Rochester and Buffalo, NY. While maintaining that business, he obtained ordination through the Christian Universalist Association, and has pastored a Congregational church in western NY since 2016. He lives in a rural area, and continues, as he has done since childhood, to enjoy reading, writing, and arithmetic.
