Chance Encounter is the story of George Woods, a young black man, traveling across Arkansas. After a brief racially-motivated confrontation with some locals, George steals a car. When he is caught, police discover a dead man, the owner of the car, in the trunk. Everyone assumes that Woods is guilty except one middle-aged white woman. Her chance encounter with the accused killer convinces her of his innocence.
Author Biography
Mary Schaffer was born and raised in northwest Arkansas. A graduate of Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas, she first taught at public schools. After receiving a Master's at University of Arkansas, she taught at Florida Gulf Coast University, Edison College, Tennessee Tech University and University of South Alabama. She currently divides her life between the United States and Europe.
