Asia's rice production is nonexistent. The United States' wheat crop is gone. Europe and Russia are bone dry. Feed for animals have reached critical mass. The U.S government struggles to recuperate from default.
Jacob Owen Brittles, a graduate in Environmental Studies and Marine Biology at the University of Oregon and a former Coast Guardsmen, stumbles upon a group of men poaching the seal colonies on his home turf near the Shell Islands south of Coos Bay, Oregon. Jacob and his two friends from college are powerless to stop these heavily armed, well-organized poachers. They hide in the dunes above the beach hoping not to be seen and watch in disbelief as the entire herd is wiped out and hauled away in a whaling ship offshore. This assault on Jacob Owen Brittles' home turf drives him to enlist as an environmental enforcement officer to fight pollution issues and the illegal operators. Shortly after his hire at INECE, he encounters militarized poaching operators again getting rich by taking advantage of the world's food shortages, as they continue poaching throughout the South China Sea, the swamps of Louisiana, and the Pacific Ocean. Not only is he fighting to stop the poachers from destroying thousands upon thousands of animals, he must prevent these men from killing his friends who work side by side with him trying to stop them. Can Jacob Owen Brittles save this world and his friends while keeping his faith alive as one terrible event after another is thrust upon him?
