This book tells the story of my journey in poems. I have been asked to put them in a collection. These pieces are not in chronological order but appear in a sequence that feels right to me. Thank you for giving witness to my words such as they are.
I want to give a special thank you to those who have mothered and mentored me: Sherry Anderson, Marlene Olson, Joyce Davis, and-the only grandmother I remember-Mabel Paulene Nichols. Their unconditional love and faith carried me through many hours of doubt.
Thank you to Susan Rueling Furness in whose writing workshop I first heard my voice and Brenda Walther for believing my words belong in the world. I also want to thank my daughters, Carmella and Marlena, for being my greatest teachers who pushed me to grow by testing my love and will.
And a deep gratitude to Curtis, my husband whose steady, unselfish love enabled me to become Mother.
