by Sam Lowe (Author)
Saguaro cacti, desert landscapes, and the Grand Canyon may stand out as prominent Arizona features, but this scorching state is also home to bizarre places, personalities, events, and phenomena. These unique and quirky aspects are humorously displayed in Arizona Curiosities, a cross between a wacky news gazette, an almanac, and a humorous travel guide.
Back Jacket
Your round-trip ticket to the wildest, wackiest, most outrageous people, places, and things the Grand Canyon State has to offer!Whether you're a born-and-raised Arizonan, a recent transplant, or just passing through, Arizona Curiosities will have you laughing out loud as Sam Lowe takes you on a rollicking tour of the strangest sides of the Grand Canyon State. Stop to see the world's largest kokopelli at Camp Verde--it's thirty-two feet tall, painted bright yellow, and perched on a six-foot base, so you probably won't miss it. Mosey into Castle Dome City, once bigger than Yuma, now one mighty fine ghost town. Feed the ostriches at Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch. Yes, there really is a Rooster Cogburn!
