In my book "10 Items or Less, Life in the Fast Lane", I offer a glimpse into the outrageous live productions of the micro reality shows that people offer, as they shop throughout the store and make their way through the checkout. As you'll see from peering through my eyes upon these events, that people feel comfortable at the supermarket and act as they normally do and not in a publicly refined way. This has led to the buildup of numerous eye-opening experiences that finally boiled within me to the point that I had to open up and share them with you. So, here in my book, I give the rare opportunity to peek into many brief accounts and my commentary of the intriguing behavior of the people that surround us all, as they try to squeeze their way through life in the fast lane. You may even see a glimpse of yourself in here too!

Author Biography

Scott Omel Good morning, it's good to see you again. After 25 years of working at the supermarket, I cannot help but to offer some sort of greeting. In sunny Southern California, it all began for me when I turned 16 and started searching for my first real job. A family friend, who was the manager at a local supermarket, suggested that I come to work for him at his store. It paid better than minimum wage at the time, so in 1985 I began my career at the grocery store. I never would have thought that I would remain for so long, but the pay and benefits were good. Noticing how others lives go up and down with the economy, I realized how consistent life was at the supermarket, because people always have to eat. So, I remained a faithful employee working my way up through many different positions, including management. Although times change, along with the name on the door, the people remain the same. Throughout the years, I have met so many wonderful individuals, but I have also seen such unusual behavior. I have always had good stories to tell, but finally, I couldn't take it anymore, and I had to put it all in writing. So, as I am ending my career in the supermarket, and moving on to new adventures, I hope that my observations and sarcastically dry commentary will enthuse, entertain, and enlighten. For the most part, I really enjoyed my job, working with the many people I've known throughout the years. Some of my fellow employees and customers have come to be good friends. So, as I close the chapter on this portion of my life, I leave you with chocolate wishes, salutations, and a smile. Good night everyone.
