We're excited to introduce our new ceremonial-grade Matcha! This Matcha is very smooth, with no bitter aftertaste. It's slightly vegetal with a hint of nuttiness and is especially high in antioxidants and amino acids. It's perfect to have straight without needing to add any sugar or cream.

Matcha is a type of green tea that originates from Japan. It is made from shade-grown tea leaves that are ground into a powder. This powder is then whisked with hot water to produce a frothy drink. Matcha is traditionally prepared using a chasen bamboo whisk, chawan bowl, and chashaku scoop.

The Best Way to Prepare Matcha:

There are two basic types of matcha preparations, usucha and koicha. Usucha is the more common preparation, and it uses 2 grams of matcha with 150-200 ml of water. Koicha is a thicker preparation that uses 4-5 grams of matcha with 50-70 ml of water. Only the best matcha like this Royal matcha tastes good with koicha style.

Here are the steps for preparing usucha:

1. Take 2 grams (about 1.5 chashaku bamboo scoops) of matcha and place it into your bowl.

2. Using the tips of your chasen bamboo whisks, break apart any clumps (using a sifter may also help).

3. Take water at 70-80C/158-176F degrees and pour it into your bowl.

4. Using the whisk, slowly make an "M" shape in your bowl. As you speed up the whisk, bubbles (froth) will form.

For Koicha, use about 50-70 ml of water. For Usucha, use 150-200 ml of water.

Matcha is a delicious and healthy alternative to coffee or other energy drinks. It provides a sustained energy boost without the crash that comes with caffeine overload. Read more about matcha health benefits here.

Try it for yourself and see how good it can be!
